Block Drop

Block Drop is a one-button stacking game you can play for free in your browser. A block slides back and forth above your tower, and you choose the moment to drop it. Only the part that lands on the block below stays; everything hanging over the edge falls away. Miss by a little and your tower gets a little narrower. Miss by a lot and the next block is a sliver.

The tower climbs, and the blocks slide faster with every floor, so each drop is a small decision under pressure. A perfect drop keeps the full width for the next one, and a calm, steady rhythm beats a quick one. Every ten floors you get a small cheer on screen, and when the last sliver misses, the run ends and your height becomes the score.

Your best tower is saved, and your score goes on the leaderboard beside the game, so you always know the number to beat — yours and everyone else's. A round takes a minute or two, which makes it a good game for a short break, a bus ride or the moment before a meeting.

Tips: watch the edge of the block below rather than the moving block, drop on the same beat each time, and do not rush when the speed picks up. One tap, click or press of the space bar is all it takes. It plays on a computer, a phone or a tablet, with nothing to download.
